This Privacy Policy describes how the Snip – Remove Web Elements Chrome extension ("Snip", "we", "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the extension. Please read this policy carefully.

1. Data We Collect

a) Anonymous Analytics Identifier

Snip generates a random, anonymous UUID (universally unique identifier) the first time the extension is installed. This ID does not contain any personally identifiable information and cannot be used to identify you. It is stored locally in chrome.storage.local and is sent to Google Analytics (GA4) along with usage events to help us understand how the extension is used in aggregate.

b) Usage Events (Google Analytics)

Snip sends anonymous usage events to Google Analytics 4 to help improve the extension. These events include actions such as activating snipping mode or removing elements. The data sent includes:

No page content or personally identifiable information are included in these events. Google Analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

c) Snipped Element Filters (Local Storage Only)

When you hide elements on a webpage, Snip saves the CSS selectors of those elements along with the domain name (hostname) of the website. This data is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your own device. It is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Data stored locally on your device (filters, analytics ID) is retained until you uninstall the extension or clear the extension's storage via Chrome settings. You can reset your snipped elements at any time using the "Reset" button in the extension popup. To remove the anonymous analytics ID, uninstall and reinstall the extension.

6. Children's Privacy

Snip is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
